Upper Extremity Orthotics Webinar

The program will discuss the anatomy of the wrist/hand complex. That complex is amazing in its complexity and in its abilities to perform a multitude of tasks. It is worth our time and effort to understand it a little more and to appreciate well-designed interventions that can help keep it or return it to function. This course will review orthopedic related wrist/hand issues and determine the correct orthotic interventions. The focus will then shift to the post-stroke hand, the challenges it presents, and the goals of keeping or making it functional again. Finally, it will discuss a resting hand splint and a thumb splint that have the potential to optimize patient compliance and provide functional outcomes.
