SELECTION Ulnar Deviation
Selection Ulnar Deviation Splint is a hand orthosis intended for the management of Ulnar Deviation. It is designed to enhance functional grip for patients suffering from ulnar drift and to reduce joint stiffness and pain. Corrects the alignment of the finger joints to improve extension, strength, and function of the hand.
This hand orthosis is produced using our unique three-layer lightweight and breathable Selection fabric. With its low-profile and ergonomic design, it conforms comfortably to the contours of the hand, without compromising function.
The small cut in the fabric near the 5th digit enhances the splint’s ability to conform to the ulnar side of the hand, ensuring a precise fit and preventing impingement. Depending on degree of deviation, the straps may be applied horizontally over the fingers only, or diagonally over the knuckles and attached to the hand wrap section.
Ulnar deviation is likely to be a characteristic for those with various forms of inflammatory disease, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. This may also be used for realignment and stabilization in patients with joint laxity and muscle weakness.
It is not indicated when joints are permanently fixed in the deviated position.
Recommended Range Of Application
For patients with inflammatory and degenerative diseases, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, that has resulted in ulnar deviation. SELECTION Ulnar Deviation can also be used for hyper-mobile joints and weak muscles to provide stability.
Not intended for use with fixed contractures of the hand.
